物理化学家。主要从事催化材料、催化反应和催化光谱表征方面的研究。1960年1月生于甘肃永昌。1989年获中国科学院大连化学物理研究所和日本东京工业大学联合培养理学博士。2003年当选为中国科学院院士，2005年当选发展中国家科学院院士。
